Michał Trela, born in 1977 in Warsaw, is a drummer.

He graduated from Fryderyk Chopin Music School at Bednarska Street and from Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wrocław (Faculty of Jazz).

He moves bravely in different styles as free jazz, avant garde and modern creative, using not only the most classical manners of playing the drum, but also searching spontaneously for alternative ways of emitting sound. Exploring expressively the music space, Michał tries continually to widen his palette of tones and an expressiveness of his play.

This project associate improvisers and composers who come from the jazz avant-garde. The principal assumption of the musicians is a free jazz improvisation and also a formation of the music consciousness by music activities and performances both on the stage and among music community.

He is co-author of the projects: “First Exit”, “Second Exit”, “Trio Y” and “Escape Art Quintet”. He collaborated with “Power of the Horns” and “Music According To Art”(M.A.T.A.) of Piotr Damasiewicz.

During his music activity he had so far the opportunity to work with many creative figures of modern avant-garde, modern creative and free jazz stage, among others: Marco Eneidi, John Blum, Ove Volquartz, Maciej Obara, Piotr Zabrodzki, Gerard Lebik, Paweł Postaremczak, Piotr Damasiewicz, and also with Zbigniew Wegehaupt and Ksawery Wójciński.
